More about Feeling the Music: A personal instruction guide to the piano for the blind, kinesthetic, or auditory learner
Written for the person with unfulfilled dreams, the music aficionado, and the piano novice, "Feeling the Music" combines piano instruction and basic music theory with the story of a partially blind woman’s dream to play the piano and its fulfillment through her teacher’s use of adaptive learning strategies.
A successful career woman, Marj’s diseased eyes shattered her world and left her drowning in grief and loss. Forced to birth new pathways, old aspirations catapult Marje into an unexpected friendship with Pat, the creative piano teacher who reawakens dreams and opens a new world of light through the touch of the keys and the feel of music. Journey alongside two women whose stories inspire self-reflection and growth while motivating musical enthusiasm and dream fulfillment.
Targeting the kinesthetic, auditory, and blind learner, or those challenged by informational processing, this book’s goal is to help the reader play simple melodies by ear and share tools used by professional musicians. Pat makes complex music theory accessible to the piano novice and alternative learning styles through the introduction of simplistic approaches and techniques.
Tucked amidst the piano lessons and music theory are humorous and encouraging comments that provide insight and camaraderie with the reader. It’s tactile and audio approach combined with the weaving of inspirational story and sprinkling of witty remarks among the pages of piano instruction, set it apart from other piano manuals. This academic and personal tool is more than an instruction manual, it is a personal glimpse of two women who dared to dream.
